Disabled? Sorry, Christmas is CANCELLED
The Daily Mail has featured an article from disability campaigner Sophie Morgan highlighting the lack of facilities for disabled guests that she has experienced, including having to enter London's prestigious Ritz hotel past rubbish bins and using a staff entrance.
Further research revealed that just 66 of more than 120 luxury hotels in Britain claim to be accessible. Furthermore, only a dozen are fully and permanently available to disabled guests and more than 30 hotels also charge more for adapted hotel rooms. This is despite the fact that the market for staying away from home is estimated at over £2 billion yearly.
"...long-term, those who ignore the potential of the so-called purple pound are losing money. The estimated spending power of disabled people is more than £80 billion. The business case is obvious."
